One in A Million winner named
WELLLINGTON – The winner of Tourism New Zealand’s ‘Thanks a Million Oz!’ competition in Australia has walked away with a millionaire’s holiday to New Zealand.
The competition was launched in May after New Zealand welcomed one million Australian visitors within a 12 month period for the first time.
To enter, participants had only 25 words or less to describe New Zealand.
Shannyn Gourley from Victoria penned these winning words:
“Spirits depleted, Boredom Chronic.
New Zealand adventure, perfect tonic!
Mixing one part adrenaline, scenery for good measure, stir in adventure, pour out PLEASURE!â€
Tourism New Zealand Chief Executive George Hickton – who helped in selecting the winner – said Shannyn’s entry was chosen because of its creativity and originality.
The prize includes accommodation arranged by Navigate Oceania in some of New Zealand’s top luxury lodges, including the Boatshed (Waiheke Island), Treetops Lodge and Wilderness Experience (Rotorua), Wharekauhau Country Estate (Martinborough) and Remarkables Lodge (Queenstown).
Return business class flights will be provided by Air New Zealand.
The recent release of arrivals statistics from Australia for the month of June show that the million mark has been crossed again.
