Orlando Eye set for May 4 grand opening
People impatient to for a bird’s eye view of downtown Orlando can now start planning.
Merlin Entertainments has announced the big news that the 400-feet high Orlando Eye will open to the public on May 4.
The Eye, which can be seen from Interstate 4, is the largest wheel on the East Coast and features 30 observation capsules, each accommodating 15 people.
Merlin’s two other attractions on International Drive – Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum and SEA LIFE Aquarium – will also open on the same date.
"We’ve got all the finer details to do now on the Orlando Eye, things like commissioning of the electrical programs," said general manager Robin Goodchild.
"We’ve also got to get the lighting rig onto the Orlando Eye as well, which will be quite an exciting milestone to achieve, especially when we turn those lights on for the first time."
Tickets for the Orlando Eye are on sale now priced from $18-$32.
Limited pre-opening tickets are also being offered for all three attractions for May 1-3 for customers who sign up for the Merlin Entertainments e-newsletter.
