Outrigger Fiji, Castaway Island first South Pacific resorts to be Green Seal certified
South Pacific resorts Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort and Castaway Island, Fiji were recognised for their environmental credentials.
They became the first South Pacific resorts to be awarded Green Seal certification.
Issued by NGO Green Seal, the certification ensures a product or service meets a set of rigorous environmental criteria.
Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort was the first South Pacific resort to gain it.
It has implemented practices that reduce waste, harmful chemicals, and pollution.
It also hired an environmental officer.
Castaway Island, Fiji was also awarded.
The resort adopted Outrigger’s OZONE initiatives and raises awareness of the island’s reef and marine ecosystem.
The resort sources local products and ensures all employees receive environmentally focused education and training.
