Over 100 positive cases on a single flight
A plane landed in Amritsar, India from Italy with a huge Covid infection rate. A total of 125 travellers tested positive on arrival out of 160 adult passengers tested from the charter flight, operated by Portuguese company EuroAtlantic Airways.
The remaining 19 children and infants were exempt from testing. Italy is one of India’s ‘at risk’ countries which requires post-arrival testing.
The Omicron variant is fuelling a spike in infections around the world. India recorded nearly 60,000 cases on Wednesday.
