Park Hotel confirms Xian deal
SINGAPORE – Park Hotel Group has further expanded its stable of properties in Asia with the acquisition of Grand Castle Hotel, located in Xian, capital city of Shaanxi province in China.
With the acquisition, the 338-room, five star property will be rebranded as Grand Park Xian.
The recently renovated hotel mirrors the historic architecture of the adjacent Ancient City Wall. It is in close proximity to the city’s historic attractions and within walking distance of the Ancient City Wall and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, both built during the Tang Dynasty.
It is a 35-kilometre drive from the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, as well as the Mausoleum of China’s First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang.
The acquisition of Grand Park Xian is in line with Singapore-headquartered Park Hotel group’s plan to be a leading regional hospitality brand.
It is the group’s third hotel in China after Grand Park Kunming in Yunnan and Grand Park Wuxi in Jiangsu.
Besides its China properties, Park Hotel group also owns and manages Park Hotel Hong Kong and three properties in Singapore including the new-built Park Hotel Clarke Quay, due to open in March 2009.
