Parties to be held on piers to help UK tourism

Sunday, 19 Oct, 2010 0

Organisers of the annual British Tourism Week plan to stage simultaneous parties on dozens of seaside piers right across the country to raise awareness of the importance of domestic tourism to the UK economy.

Details of the parties, which will take place during British Tourism Week from March 12-20 next year, will be unveiled at a pre-launch event tomorrow on R S Hispaniola on London’s Victoria Embankment.

The historic 138-year-old Hastings Pier was recently destroyed by fire, but organisers of the annual British Tourism Week hope many of the remaining 55 piers in the UK will join the event.

To date, 29 have signaled their intention to take part in what will be one of the biggest linked parties ever held at different locations in the UK.
