Pilot grounded for allowing wife into cockpit
A pilot with Shanghai-based Donghai Airlines was grounded for six months and hit with a fine for allowing his wide into the cockpit during a flight.
Pilot Chen Guosheng allegedly allowed his wife onto the flight deck three times, ignoring protests from fellow crew members.
He was fines 12,000 yuan (about US$1,750).
Two co-pilots, a senior flight attendant and a security guard were also fined for failing to ‘resolutely stop the severe violations,’ the airline said.
The carrier took action after China’s Civil Aviation Administration made public the breach, sparking criticism of the airline in the media and online.
Other operational breaches by the pilot then came to light.
The carrier made a public apology and pledged to review safety protocols and staff training.
