PlacesToStay adds resort hotels
Sun and beach properties are to be added to the PlacesToStay.com portfolio as part of an ongoing strategic review of the company.
The private rate hotel reservation business, acquired by Irish online travel provider FEXCO AllTravel last September, expects to have around 2,000 resort-based properties in Europe and the US featured by March.
The expansion from offering mainly city-based accommodation is part of a plan to provide greater choice and quality, with improved hotel descriptions and better rates.
Head of distribution and business development Tim Wright told TravelMole that the aim was for “qualitative rather than quantitative” growth.
“It’s not about the volume of hotels, we are trying to be selective to get the right hotels in the right resorts and get even better prices,” he explained.
PlacesToStay has recruited a dedicated contractor for the US to enhance the choice of properties in areas popular with UK holidaymakers.
The company is also developing a web-based version which will provide net prices to smaller agents, allowing them to add their own mark-up in accommodation.
Details of the various enhancements will be available at next week’s Travel Technology Show in London on January 31-February 1 where FEXCO AllTravel/PlacesToStay is an exhibitor.
