P&O Cruises unveils Iona’s winter sailings

Tuesday, 11 Feb, 2019 0

Winter cruises for P&O’s new ship Iona will go on sale on March 18.

Between October 2020 and March 2021, Iona will sail south from Southampton to Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands and cities in northern Europe in a mix of seven and 14-night itineraries.

There will be day-into-night visits on shore to discover local nightlife and late departures from Barcelona, Valencia, Tenerife and Fuerteventura.

Guests will also be treated to overnight stays in Barcelona, Lisbon, Cadiz and Rotterdam.

On-shore activities include waterfall canyoning in Madeira, river rafting in Vigo, tuk tuk tours of Lisbon, star-gazing from Mount Teide in Tenerife, and traditional shrimp fishing by horseback in Bruges.

"We’ve used insider knowledge to develop shore visits and adventures that will be off the beaten track and give once-in-a-lifetime local experiences," said president Paul Ludlow.

"P&O Cruises has a strong tradition of taking guests to enjoy winter sun and vibrant northern European cities, and now we’re helping them discover a new side of well-known destinations.

"By scheduling late departures for Iona from ports our guests will be able to make the most of days and evenings on shore, with an enviable selection of experiences that will showcase the very best of hidden Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands and northern European cities."

Pre-registration opens from 8am on March 11.
