P&O hit by cancellations and delays after fire in engine room
P&O was forced to cancel two ferries and others are subject to delays after the Pride of Canterbury arrived in Calais with thick black smoke billowing out of it.
The fire, which was found in the engine room, was put out by the ship’s fire suppression system on arrival in Calais at 8am yesterday morning.
P&O said passengers disembarked normally with no injuries and the Master declared the incident closed by 9am.
The ferry operator said it had cancelled one round trip of the ship while the damage was assessed and other services were suffering delays.
