P&O Cruises has announced cruises to the Australian Open tennis tournament, joining a starting line-up that already includes two Melbourne Cup cruises.

The inaugural four-night Australian Open cruise from Sydney to Melbourne is scheduled for January 20 with fares from A$609 per person quad share.

A second five-night cruise is scheduled for January 19, 2015.

Timed to coincide with the singles quarter-final matches, the cruises will include transfers to Melbourne Park Tennis Centre and general admission into the grounds.

Passengers will also receive first pick of ticket upgrades to Rod Laver Arena before they go on sale to the general public.

Meanwhile, horse racing enthusiasts can travel to the "Race that Stops a Nation" , the Melbourne Cup, on one of two six-night cruises onboard Pacific Pearl and Pacific Jewel in November 2013 and 2014.

Several onboard events will include parades, competitions and sweepstakes taking place throughout the cruise.
