P&O to give Australians a fair go with fares
SYDNEY – The importance of the Australasian market to P&O UK was reinforced in this week’s announcement of new programmes and initiatives.
Speaking to travel media representatives aboard Aurora in Sydney, Carol Marlow, P&O Cruises managing director, said that the company’s programme of four 2012 world voyages would be released simultaneously in Australia and Britain in July.
Commenting on this decision, Marlow said, “This will give Australians equal access to inventory and to our ‘Saver Fares’ which offer early booking discounts of up to 40 percent.
“On World Voyages 10 percent of passengers are Australians and we hope this initiative will help grow that.â€
An interesting innovation is the Oriana’s November voyage which gives passengers an opportunity to spend Christmas and New Year in the UK. This can be combined with Aurora’s January sailing from Southampton to create a two-ship round the world itinerary.
Marlow went on to say that P&O Cruises UK is set to launch a dedicated Australian website, in an effort to differentiate it from the very successful P&O Australia product.
“The two products are different – with P&O UK offering an identifiably ‘British’ styleâ€, she said, “a contemporary take on traditional cruisingâ€.
“Nowhere is this better reflected than in food aboard our ships,†Marlow added.
“Michelin-starred chefs Gary Rhodes and Marco Pierre White have opened fine dining restaurants, whilst curries, a feature of all our ships’ menus, will be the theme of Indian chef Atul Kochhar’s fine dining room, Sindhu, aboard our new ‘Azura’, when she joins us in April.â€
