Ponant to sail circumnavigation of Antarctica

In early 2028, Ponant icebreaker Le Commandant Charcot will complete a circumnavigation of Antarctica lasting 62 days.

This rare itinerary is now available to book.

It comprises nearly 23,000 kilometres along the icy coastline of Antarctica.

Le Commandant Charcot will set sail in January 2028 from Ushuaia (Argentina) westwards to Hobart (Tasmania) over 30 days.

After a three-day stopover, the ship will then return to the departure point, following the east coast of Antarctica over 31 days.

It sails the Ross Sea along the world’s largest ice shelf and marine sanctuary, and explores little-known and inaccessible lands: Charcot Island, the islands of Marie Byrd Land, Wilkes Land, Adélie Land and the Balleny Islands.

Wildlife watching opportunities include penguins, humpback whales, Antarctic minke whales, orcas, seals, elephant seals, sea lions, petrels, and more.

Excursion are taken by Zodiac, on snowshoe hikes and by kayak.

The Ushuaia roundtrip, 62 days/60 nights aboard Le Commandant Charcotis priced from €121,955.
