Popular ski resort to hold investigation into British mum’s death
A French resort has promised a full investigation after an experienced British skier died from fatal injuries suffered from a fall.
Anne Clayton, 54, was skiing on the Bear piste, a relatively moderate ‘blue’ run in La Plagne, when she lost control, skidded off the slope and crashed into a tree.
She was on holiday with her two sons, Stephen, aged 22 and Andrew, 19, who described her as a good skier.
Stephen told journalists the run wasn’t difficult but it was icy due to the rain the night before.
A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman said: "We are supporting the family of a British national who has sadly died in Macot le Plagne, France, and remain in contact with the French authorities over the incident."
Police in La Plagne said there would be a ‘full investigation’ and the deceased’s sons were due to speak to French police today.
