Portland Direct has been voted the Best Tour Operator 2006 by the Holiday Watchdog website.

According to customer reviews of 17 tour operators on the site, Portland earned the highest score of 7.98 out of 10.

TUI was named The Best Multi Tour Operator with an average score of 7.87.

Scores are averaged based on the number of reviews left for each tour operator and collated accordingly.

Chris Brown, managing director at Holidaywatchdog.com, said: “As you can see there is little between all the tour operators which is good news for the consumer as it means they are all doing a relatively good job.

“That said, there is definite room for improvement and it would be nice to see a few of the operators averaging more than eight out of ten next year.”

The scores for tour operators were as follows:

Portland Direct 7.98
Thomson 7.89
JMC Holidays 7.79
Manos 7.72
Thomas Cook 7.64
First Choice 7.62
Going Places 7.53
Kosmar 7.48
Direct Holidays 7.46
Panorama 7.46
Mytravel 7.45
Skytours 7.44
Olympic Holidays 7.37
Cosmos 7.13
Airtours 7.10
Libra Holidays 6.85
Goldtrail 6.54
