PortMiami posts new record of 8.2 million cruise passengers
PortMiami welcomed a record high 8.2 million cruise passengers for the fiscal year ending in September.
It represents an almost 13% increase on the previous best last year.
“PortMiami continues to break records and uphold its status as the cruise capital of the world,” Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said.
“I extend my congratulations to the entire PortMiami team and our valued cruise line partners.”
Over the next few months new ships due to deploy at PortMiami include MSC Cruises World America, Virgin Voyages Resilient and NCL’s Aqua.
Also, MSC Cruises’ new Cruise Terminal AA will open soon.
It is set to become the world’s largest standalone cruise terminal.
Work on a new Cruise Terminal G for Royal Caribbean International begins next summer.
PortMiami recently launched shore power, which will offer engine off connections at five cruise berths.
