Prince of Wales backs British Tourism Week
Prince Charles has been confirmed as Patron of the first British Tourism Week.
Tourism chiefs hope the royal endorsement will help raise the profile of the UK tourist industry at home and overseas.
British Tourism Week takes place on March 12-18 next year.
Announcing the Prince’s involvement during World Travel Market, VisitBritain chief executive Tom Wright said: “His support is further evidence of the critical importance of tourism to the UK economy and of our royal heritage to the tourism industry.
“HRH has consistently supported pour industry over many years and has been an influential ambassador at home and abroad.”
UKinbound chief executive and British Tourism Week executive council chairman Stephen Dowd added: “Royal recognisition of the importance of British Tourism Week will help us redefine both the image and the reality of British tourism in the important years ahead.
“His Royal Highness’ interests in nheritage and in many of the quintessential elements that constitute Britain’s tourism brand, make him a perfect ambassador for our industry.”
