Prominent Singapore running coach arrested in travel scam
A well-known Singapore running coach has been arrested for duping more than 80 members from his running club.
The members paid a combined S$100,000 for marathon travel packages overseas which were then cancelled at the last minute with no refunds given so far.
Lexxus Tan, the founder of F1 Runners Club, could face criminal charges and has been reported to the Singapore Tourism Board for operating as an unlicensed travel agent.
Tan offered a S$1,300 package to the Gold Coast Marathon, which included race fees, flights, accommodation, and other expenses.
Members were emailed at the last minute saying the trip was cancelled.
Several other members also made a complaint alleging they loaned Tan money but he failed to repay it back.
Travel agency Scenic Travel also recently took legal action against Tan for breach of contract for overseas race packages.
