Qantas cuts exec bonuses after major hack
Qantas has cut executive bonus pay due to the July cyberattack.
Bonuses were cut 15% despite the airline posting $1.5B annual profit.
The systems hack captured data of millions of people.
Hackers managed to access third party systems used by a call centre.
They compromised the loyalty program information of about four million customers, and 1.2 million customer records containing the name and email address.
The airline says no financial data or card details of customers were accessed.
Qantas Group Chairman John Mullen confirmed the bonus cut for the CEO and the Executive Management team.
“Despite the strong performance, the Board decided to reduce annual bonuses by 15 percentage points as a result of the impact the cyber incident had on our customers,” he said.
Mullen said it reflects the company’s ‘shared accountability.’
