Qantas inks order for additional Airbus A321XLR aircraft
Qantas announced a new Airbus jet order for 20 more Airbus A321XLR aircraft.
This takes the airline’s total order for A321XLR aircraft to 48.
“Investing in new aircraft is one of the most significant ways that we can provide our customers with a better flying experience, and these billion-dollar investments are possible because of our continued strong financial performance,” said Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson
The additional jets will ‘open up markets like Perth-India and Adelaide-Singapore,” Hudson added.
Some of the A321XLR aircraft will feature Qantas’ new lie-flat Business Class seats which will be deployed serve longer routes.
This makes it the first narrow-body jets in the fleet to have lie-flat Business Class seats.
These equipped aircraft are expected for delivery in 2028.
The first A321XLR jets deployed on domestic and short-haul international flights join the Qantas fleet next month and expect to take possession of seven A321XLR aircraft by the end of this financial year.
