Qantas international bag handlers back at work
Qantas international flights are now said to be back on schedule after industrial action by baggage handlers yesterday caused lengthy delays at Sydney Airport.
A stop-work meeting by Qantas baggage handlers at the international terminal yesterday morning caused flights to be delayed by about two hours with Qantas and other airlines’ international flights also affected, but the backlog at Sydney Airport was cleared by the end of the day.
The Transport Workers Union (TWU) says the baggage handlers walked off the job for four hours because of staffing cuts, which they say are compromising safety, with Qantas saying it has been speaking to the union about its concerns.
