Qantas, Jetstar slash flight capacity
Qantas and budget sister brand Jetstar are cancelling scores of flights due to Australia’s surge in Covid-19 cases. Qantas Group announced it is slashing flights planned for July, August and September 2022 as demand drops off.
It projects demand for the third quarter of the year to be only about 70% of pre-pandemic levels.
The Covid surge ‘is having an obvious impact on consumer behaviour,’ Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said.
Expected demand for international travel in the same period has also sunk well below pre-Omicron projections.
