Qantas to launch Osaka flights
Australian flag carrier Qantas is launching a new nonstop service linking Sydney and Osaka’s Kansai International Airport.
Citing strong demand for travel between the two nations, Qantas will begin flying seasonally on the route from December 14, 2017 through March 24, 2018.
It will fly three times a week on upgraded two-class Airbus A330 aircraft.
It will be the only direct flight between the two cities.
Qantas currently flies to Tokyo from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
Qantas’ low cost unit Jetstar links Osaka with Cairns and also flies to Tokyo from Cairns and the Gold Coast.
"This December we celebrate 70 years of flying to Japan and we’re delighted to add another destination to the growing list of services Qantas operates between the two countries at a time when travel to Japan is booming," said Qantas International CEO Gareth Evans.
"Our commitment to the Japanese market is reflective of the strength of this growth, which we are very well placed to support with the largest Australia-Japan network, the largest domestic network in Australia, and the largest low-cost domestic network across Japan through Jetstar Japan."
