Qatar confirms launch date for Auckland flights
Gulf carrier Qatar Airways has confirmed nonstop Doha-Auckland flights will begin in December.
The first flight takes off on December 3 using Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.
It becomes the world’s longest nonstop flight, lasting nearly 18 hours, and eclipses the 8,823 mile Dubai to Auckland route that Emirates recently launched.
The airline also announced 13 other routes during a news conference at ITB Berlin including new destinations in Thailand to Krabi and Chiang Mai.
“These new destinations are where our customers want to go, and where we see the most opportunity to provide a best-in-class experience at great value. We look forward to growing our network and welcoming new passengers to Qatar Airways,” said Qatar chief executive Akbar Al Bakar.
