Quintana Roo tourist tax to commence next month
Travelers to the state of Quintana Roo will start paying a tourist tax from 1 April.
Foreign arrivals are liable for a levy of 224 Mexican pesos (about $11).
Quintana Roo includes the popular tourist hubs of Cancun and Tulum.
Payments are made through the Visitax online system which requires filling out a questionnaire, and making a cad payment.
Once it is processed travelers will receive a barcode to verify payment.
Payment stations accepting cash will also be located at airports.
It can be done when booking their trip; during their stay, or upon leaving the state.
