Record increase in UK visitors to Israel
The Israel Government Tourist Office has announced an all-time record in increased UK visitor numbers.
Travelers from the United Kingdom rose 21% to 21,277 in May 2013, up from 17,566 in May the previous year and up 5% when comparing the first five months of 2013 against the same period in 2012.
Naama Oryan-Kaplan, director of the UK and Ireland for IGTO said: "It is exciting to see that the IGTO efforts within the UK market has seen a dramatic increase compared with the same period in 2012 and is set to continue with the open skies agreement which was signed earlier this year.
"With the many marketing campaigns we have planned, we are confident the UK market will continue to recognise that Israel is a destination which offers a world renowned tourism product."
Overall, Israel has seen an increase of 5% in visitor number across the globe in May 2013 compared to the same period in 2012 and 9% increase when compared with 2011.
