Rendezvous Launches The Marque Hotel Brand in China

Rendezvous Hotels & Resorts International hasa nnounced that they are taking The Marque Collection of Hotels into China with the addition of a new contemporary hotel in Guilin.

The hotel, to be named The Marque Hotel, Guilin, will be managed by Rendezvous under The Marque Collection of Hotels brand.

Located on Shanghai Road, within the Xiangshan district of Guilin – a key international tourist destination in China, Rendezvous is confident that The Marque Hotel, Guilin will thrive upon the anticipated strong growth of tourist activities within the Guilin region.

The hotel is expected to be ready by December 2007 and a grand opening has been scheduled for February 2008.

Guilin Tourism Board forecasts a continuation of double-digit growth for visitor numbers in 2007 and a major spike of an additional 12% in association with visitation to China for the Olympic Games in 2008.

There is also a steady demand for corporate conference facilities throughout the year and this will improve the hotel business during the low season.

However, the greatest percentage of travel to Guilin is for leisure purposes, located one hour’s flight west of Hong Kong, considered by many to be the “pearl of China’s tourism industry”, with the region encompassing brilliant crystal clear lakes and extraordinarily magnificent mountain and limestone formations that are internationally well recognised.

Major attractions for the ten million visitors each year include Elephant Trunk Hill, Li River, Reed Flute Cave and Seven-Star Park.

The addition of this 152-room Marque hotel is timely to meet the strong industry demand. The Marque Hotel, Guilin will offer tourists a contemporary limited-service-hotel at an affordable price, providing a real value for money experience.

A four-level retail podium will be located on the lower levels of the hotel featuring a central reception, coffee shop and bar, a Chinese restaurant, Karaoke bar, a spa and leisure/small conference facilities and the 20-storey hotel one of six towers within the mega commercial development.

Rendezvous’ Chief Executive, Mr. Alan Featherby, said, “We are delighted to be working with Guilin Tai Lian Real Estate Company Limited to bring this modern and innovative hotel project to fruition as the first Marque Collection of Hotels in China.”, adding, “We are confident The Marque Hotel, Guilin’s presence will be well received within the region, with Rendezvous’ service excellence and expertise in hospitality, coupled with rising demand factors and positive tourism growth, making it a very successful hotel in Guilin.”
