Rhapsody leaves on the crest of the wave
SYDNEY – Royal Caribbean’s Rhapsody of the Seas has left Sydney after completing her third and most successful Australian cruising season on record.
She carried more than 30,000 passengers including an unprecedented number of Australians.
“Rhapsody has had an excellent season and sailed full on every cruise,†said Adam Armstrong, commercial manager, Royal Caribbean Cruises Australia.
Over the season, Rhapsody of the Seas sailed a total of 15 cruises and visited every Australian state
She had two significant milestones in her third season down under: she made history as the biggest cruise ship ever to dock in Cairns port and she had the largest travel agent walk around programme since the ship started cruising the Australian wave season in 2007.
Over 2,000 travel agents visited the ship in 10 ports across Australia, including first time events held in Darwin and Cairns.
She was also Circular Quay’s Overseas Passenger Terminal’s most frequent customer of the cruise season.
As Rhapsody of the Seas sets off for her northern summer home in Alaska, Royal Caribbean reports sales for her next Australian season are strong, particularly on South Pacific itineraries to New Caledonia and Vanuatu.
She returns to Sydney in October this year for 18 cruises and begins her fourth Australian season with an 11-night Tropical Queensland cruise.
