Royal Caribbean senior VP leaves the industry
Dominic Paul, Royal Caribbean International senior vice president international, is leaving to join a UK-based, non-travel-related business as CEO.
He will be replaced by Gavin Smith, currently MD of Royal Caribbean International Australia and New Zealand. He will report directly to president and CEO international Michael Bayley.
In his new role, which takes effect on May 1, Smith will be responsible for international sales, marketing and commercial operations for Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises.
His remit will cover Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
RCI said it will source 1.5 million guests from these markets in 2016.
"We are extremely appreciative of Dominic’s hard work growing our brands’ presence in the UK and European market for four years, and, during the past two years, growing our International business all over the world," said Bayley.
"We all wish Dominic much luck in his next adventure."
Paul joined Royal Caribbean in 2010 as MD for UK and Ireland and in 2012 and took on an expanded role of vice president international, as well as continuing as MD of RCL Cruises, in 2013.
