Royal Caribbean’s record romp
SYDNEY – Royal Caribbean has enjoyed its biggest January in Australia and the biggest month on record since the cruise company opened a local office in 2008.
The company said new records were set across all three cruise brands – Royal Caribbean Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises.
Adam Armstrong, commercial manager, Royal Caribbean Cruises Australia, said, “We’ve started 2010 on such a high note …it signals that the economy is rebounding and that people want to travel.â€
Royal Caribbean Cruises’ bookings in Australia were three times higher than in the same period the year before.
The cruise company saw particularly strong sales for Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises, which each beat their previous record booking months by more than 60 percent.
Rhapsody of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s ship based in Australia for the cruising season, dominated over two thirds of the bookings.
Her popularity was increased by the launch of the “Double Earlybird” savings last month on selected summer 2010/11 cruises.
The Double Earlybird promotion, with savings of up to $1000pp off brochure pricing, is still available on selected Rhapsody of the Seas cruises booked by February 14, 2010.
