Royal couple’s Middle Eastern honeymoon plans set to boost tourism

Jordan could have its fortunes turned around as a tourist destination after weekend reports revealed that Prince William and Kate Middleton have opted to spend their honeymoon there.
The couple are thought to have booked a week’s trip through southern Jordan to take in the sights at Petra and the Wadi Rum.
It is thought they will travel with a team of royal protection officers.
Jordan’s image as a holiday destination has been dented by unrest in the Middle East over the past few months.
Parts of the country are described by the Foreign Office as volatile after protests in the capital Amman calling for political reform.
Travelmole contacted representatives of the Jordan Tourism Board today but was told that “they were still getting their head round the news”.
The words “better make hay” and “while the sun shines” comes to mind.
