Ryanair makes Canaries comeback
Ryanair is to base six aircraft in the Canaries from February – two in Gran Canaria, two in Lanzarote and two in Tenerife.
It will also increase Fuerteventura routes and frequencies.
The airline said it carried just 300,000 passengers to the Canary Islands in 2009.
But, thanks to reduced airport charges for 2010 and 2011 and a 2013-2015 Regional Marketing Fund to support continued air traffic growth, it said it will now grow traffic to/from the islands to 4.5m passengers.
It said this will restore all of the traffic lost by the Canary Islands between 2007-2009.
