Ryanair to silence on-time trumpet

Thursday, 22 May, 2014 0

Ryanair has agreed to scrap its on-time landing trumpet jingle after asking for the views of its passengers.

It has decided to dump its famous bugle, which sounds at the end of every flight that lands on time, after surveying passengers via Twitter.

Customers who shared their views described the tradition as "annoying", "awful " and "cheesy".

One said it made her boyfriend embarrassed to be Irish every time he heard it.

Hinting that the bugle will be replaced by something else, a Ryanair spokesman it would be changed and its "next customer improvement" will be unveiled soon. "Watch this space," he added.

The move is part of a series of customer service improvements which has already seen the airline introduce ‘quiet’ flights before 8am and after 8pm, where it has cut down on in-flight announcements.
