Sabre to partner GTMC
Sabre Travel Network is to partner with the Guild of Travel Management Companies, giving the organisation links with all four GDSs.
The decision was announced during the GTMC annual conference in Oman.
Commenting on the move Sabre Travel Network vice president for Northern Region and Global Accounts, EMEA, Reet Wiseman, said: “This is a challenging time for all of us in the travel industry, with GDS de-regulation in Europe being just around the corner.
In a world where commissions will most likely continue to plunge, travel management companies will have to be more strategic than ever before in their choice of GDS operator.
“They will need to work with a technology partner with enough negotiating leverage to secure the widest range of content at the best possible rates, in order for them to compete.
We are keen to share our expertise and look forward to partnering with the GTMC to create best-in-class practices for their members”.
Of the three remaining major GDSs, Galileo and Amadeus are also partnered with GTMC and Worldspan is an associate, which is a lesser degree of participation.
