Saudi threatens to blow up US jet
A Saudi national is due to appear in court today on charges stemming from his alleged threat to blow up a Delta Air Lines flight.
Authorities said he is being held in Columbus,Ohio.
Saleh Al Suwailem, 45, of Boise, was charged with making a terroristic threat against an airplane.
The criminal complaint said he was upset after being denied a job as an interpreter for US military operations in Iraq.
The complaint said he was in Fort Benning, going through the process of becoming an interpreter for a communications division that contracts employees for Iraq. When told he was not going to be hired, he started drinking, according to accounts.
“Okay, I’m going to bomb the plane,” he blurted out, the complaint said.
He said it was only a joke.
