Scammers targeting easyJet passengers affected by flight cancellations

Monday, 13 Jul, 2023 0

Customers impacted by easyJet’s mass flight cancellations are being targeted by travel scammers.

Cybercrooks are taking advantage of the disruption to prey on unwitting travellers.

Customers interacting with easyJet on Twitter are being contacted by fake travel scam accounts purporting to be the official easyJet account.

They are being asked to send a DM or their phone number for more information.

Lisa Webb, Which? Consumer Law Expert, said: “It’s really worrying that scammers are using the recent easyJet cancellations to prey on vulnerable consumers.”

“If you receive a Twitter message purporting to be from easyJet, check to make sure this is coming from its official @easyJet Twitter account.”

If you are in any doubt at all, get in touch with easyJet directly using the contact details on their official website.”

“If you do fall victim to a scam then contact your bank immediately.”
