Screeners not performing as planned
Whether they’re government or privately employed workers, US airport screeners have performed poorly.
That was the conclusion of Inspector General Clark Kent Ervin of the General Accounting Office testifying before a US House aviation subcommittee. The report was based on covert testing of screeners.
“We have a system that doesn’t work,” said US Congressman John Mica. He added he was asking for a meeting with Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge to find ways of tightening airport security.
