SeaDream introduces ex-UK itinerary

Wednesday, 03 Jun, 2010 0

SeaDream Yacht Club is to sail out of London and through Europe for the first time.

The upmarket cruiseline has until now plied the Caribbean seas in winter and the Mediterranean ones in summer but says it is responding to demand from the trade and passengers.

The company’s recently appointed vice president for sales in Europe and Asia Morten Leite revealed the new itinerary for SeaDream One days into his new post and said the company also wanted to focus on developing the European and Asian source markets.

The UK is SeaDream’s second most important market after the US and, like many other cruise lines currently, it sees Asia as a potential golden goose, with the affluent upper middle classes expanding there at a rapid rate.

Said Leite: “Europe, Asia and Brazil are huge markets for us and we want to develop them further so that we are not so dependent on Northern America for business.

“We plan to work even more with our trade partners, training them in our product and educating them about what we have to offer and how to sell it.”

He added: “We introduced an ex-London sailing for 2011 because that’s what people want. It’s a trend that has been building for some time. While ten years ago there weren’t any sailings out of the UK, now there are plenty – it’s what the market want.”

SeaDream will also move its European operations out of its Miami office and into one in Oslo, to be closer to trade contacts.
