Seattle hails record season for cruise traffic

Following the conclusion of the 2025 Alaska cruise season, the Port of Seattle is hailing a record year.

A total of 1.9 million passengers took cruises departing Seattle, it says, and generated an estimated $1.2 billion into the local region.

The Seattle cruise industry supports more than 5,000 jobs, it says.

“We end this season in a very strong position and look forward to an even better 2026,” Port of Seattle Executive Director Steve Metruck said.

Seattle has been a homeport for eight cruise lines, with more than 90% of all departures to Alaska.

There were 298 cruise journeys in total from the port this year, including to Mexico, Hawaii, along the Pacific Northwest and transpacific cruises to Asia Pacific.

The [ort said almost two-thirds of cruise ships hook up to shore power when docked in Seattle, instead of burning fossil fuels. By.

Starting in 2027, all homeported ships must  have the capability to connect to shore power.
