Seguro Travel ceases trading
Cheshire-based Seguro Travel has ceased trading with 2,400 holidaymakers overseas and more than 17,000 customers with forward bookings.
ABTA said it understood that there are 2,400 people abroad with Seguro Travel and 17,253 forward bookings up until the end of summer 2009. Most passengers for Seguro Travel flew from Kent and Scotland.
A message on the Seguro website blamed the closure of the business on the failure of Futura Airlines last weekend.
The operator held ATOL licence 3251 and was based in Macclesfield.
Mainly selling through agents, it operated air package holidays and flights from Glasgow, Prestwick and Kent airports to Spain, the Canary Islands and Portugal.
The CAA is making arrangements for customers abroad to complete their holidays and return to the UK and to fully refund those with forward bookings.
Customers due to travel should submit a claim to the CAA. Claim forms are available on the ATOL website at www.atol.org.uk.
The company also traded as Seguro Holidays, Kent Escapes, KentEscapes.co.uk, KentEscapes.com and Seguro Travel.
