Seven-year high for new travel jobs
More new travel jobs were made available last month than at any point in the past seven years, according to the latest C&M Travel Salary Index.
The recruitment firm said October was a busy month, driven by a large number of standard travel jobs (those paying up to £40,000) advertised by companies looking to hire new staff before Christmas.
However, the number of new executive travel roles saw a slight dip.
"It’s fair to say the travel recruitment industry has truly come alive!" said Barbara Kolosinska, sales director at C&M Travel Recruitment and Chisholm & Moore Executive Recruitment.
"The big increase in new vacancies that we’ve seen is due to travel companies wanting to put themselves in the best position to start 2015 on a high, and we’re delighted that so many candidates are taking the opportunity to register for roles now before the holidays begin."
Last month also saw another increase in new candidate registrations, with October’s figure reaching its highest level since May 2013.
There were also increases in average salaries for both new standard travel roles and executive positions.
The average annual wage for a new job in travel now stands at £25,032, up by 1.97% from last October.
The biggest increase was for standard travel roles, which had a very strong 5% jump in salaries last month – the highest rise since the start of the summer.
C&M is holding an Open Day for candidates on December 10. Click here for more details.
