Shangri-La Hotels partners with Ctrip to capture more Chinese travellers
Asian luxury hotel group Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has tapped online travel platform Ctrip to lure more Chinese travellers.
The companies signed a strategic agreement to offer experiences to Chinese consumers throughout Asia and globally.
The partnership will leverage Ctrip’s scale of resources and technology to promote the Shangri-La, Kerry, Hotel Jen and Traders brands’ offerings of enhanced experiences for Chinese travellers.
Ctrip is the market leader for overseas travel in the China market and the largest outbound travel platform in Asia.
About 25% of all Chinese travel customers book and search for products and services via Ctrip.
"We are most pleased to be deepening our partnership with the Shangri-La Group. As more Chinese tourists travel abroad, we are continuously finding ways to provide better hotel services and products for more than 300 million of our registered users," said David Zhou, chief business officer at Ctrip’s accommodation business unit.
Shangri-La launched its first China hotel in Hangzhou 35 years ago and now has a group portfolio of more than 100 properties globally.
"By partnering with Ctrip, we’ll work with their robust network of resources to help broaden the distinctive experiences Chinese travellers are increasingly looking for," said Oliver Bonke, Shangri-La president and COO.
