Shearings boss one of two new VisitEngland board members
Shearings chief executive Denis Wormwell and Merlin Entertainments chief Nick Varney have been appointed to the board of VisitEngland.
They will serve for a period of four years on the new tourist body for England.
James Berresford, previously tourism director at Northwest Development Agency, officially took up position as VisitEngland’s first chief executive on July 1.
Board chairman Penelope, Viscountess Cobham, said: “The invaluable expertise and achievements of both Nick and Denis, combined with the board members we already have in place, will provide us with exactly the right foundations to ensure that VisitEngland’s strategies are customer and industry focused from the outset.
“We have all the pieces of the jigsaw in place and at long last England’s tourism industry will have its own voice.
“We fully intend to push boundaries where need be to ensure that the England gets the attention and profile that we all know our country deserves both domestically and abroad.”
