Singapore getting first air link with Poland
Singapore’s Changi Airport is to get its first ever direct air link with Poland next year.
LOT Polish Airlines will launch thrice weekly flights to Singapore from capital Warsaw beginning on May 15.
LOT plans to use three-class 252-seat B787-8 aircraft on the route and will increase service to four times a week from July next year.
According to Changi Airport, it gives Polish travellers a wide network of 47 other connecting links in Southeast Asia and the Southwest Pacific via Changi.
CAG managing director of air hub development Lim Ching Kiat said the new flight announcement comes as Eastern and Central Europe gains in popularity with Asia travellers.
It takes to 14 the number of European countries with direct air links from Singapore.
So far this year 3.6 million passengers have travelled between Singapore and Europe, which is an annual increase of 7.8%.
LOT’s chief executive Rafal Milczarski, said: "We are more than happy to announce a new direct service between Singapore, one of the most developed business centres in the world and a travel mecca for many tourists, and Warsaw placed in the very heart of Central and Eastern Europe."
