Six Flags CEO abruptly steps down
Theme Park operator Six Flags announced a surprising leadership shakeup with chief executive officer John Duffey stepping down after less than 18 months in the job.
Duffey, 56, is retiring and cites personal reasons.
Duffey’s predecessor Jim Reid-Anderson, who was current executive chairman, is returning to take over as CEO.
Reid-Anderson previously led Six Flags for more than five years before Duffey took over in February 2016.
"I am very proud and excited to rejoin the operating team and look forward to executing our business strategy. We have had seven record years in a row and I believe that the best is yet to come," Reid-Anderson said in a statement.
"I do want to wish John all the very best for the future and to thank him for his major contributions during his excellent tenure with the company."
Shares of Six Flags dipped by more than 3% on the news.
The company operates 20 parks in North America and earlier this year announced plans to build the first ever theme park in Saudi Arabia.
