Six skiers die in separate French avalanches
Six skiers have died in two separate avalanches in France over the weekend.
On Saturday, two Spanish skiers died while skiing off-piste in the French Pyrenees, near the Aragnouet-Bielsa tunnel linking France to Spain.
In a separate incident on Friday, four skiers were killed in the Mercantour National park in the French Alps, the deadliest avalanche of the winter so far.
The latest fatalities bring the number to have died since the start of France’s 2017-18 ski season to over 20.
