SkyWest buys stake in Contour Airlines
Regional airline SkyWest revealed it has bought a 25% minority stake in Tennessee-based Contour Airlines.
It made the announcement during its fourth-quarter earnings call.
“We recently completed the acquisition of a 25% stake of Contour Airlines, a small operator in the Part 135 space for $25 million,” said SkyWest President Chip Childs.
Contour operates 30 aircraft on charter services with about 200 pilots.
SkyWest says Contour’s operations align closely with its newly launched SkyWest Charter (SWC) division.
It will also help provide a pipeline of qualified pilots.
“Contour is almost exactly like SWC and what we would like to accomplish with it,” Childs added.
