SkyWest says no cabin pressure fault found with flight 5622
Investigators are no closer to solving the mystery of why three people passed out on a SkyWest flight forced to divert to Buffalo Niagara Airport.
After an initial inspection on the ground no faults were found with the plane, SkyWest said.
"After examination by maintenance personnel and local authorities, there have been no indications of a pressurization problem or other issues with the aircraft. Our investigation is ongoing," said spokeswoman Marissa Snow.
SkyWest Airlines flight 5622 had departed Chicago and was en route for Bradley, Connecticut when the pilot was alerted to a possible loss of cabin pressure as three passengers passed out and others complained of dizziness.
The pilot then took the plane into a steep descent, plunging nearly 30,000 feet in just eight minutes.
Initial reports indicated one of the cabin doors opened mid-flight which caused a loss of cabin pressure but this was later ruled out in a FAA statement.
However according to as LA Times report an unnamed aviation official said crew members reported a door had in fact opened in the air causing ‘rapid depressurization.’
