Smaller Canada airlines seek state financial aid
After the federal government bailed out Air Canada with US$4.71 billion in loans and an investment, the Air Transport Association of Canada has called for a level playing field for the country’s smaller carriers.
The deal agreed with Air Canada now secures jobs, the continuation of regional routes and refunds for an army of disgruntled customers. Smaller airlines deserve financial assistance too, says John McKenna, chief executive of ATAC. "We want everyone to have access to the same programs," he said.
