Smoking them out?
Hotels in Chicago will be one of the few places where people will still be allowed to smoke after the city council passed an ordinance to ban smoking in virtually all of the city’s public areas.
That includes restaurants, bars, taxis, train platforms, sports stadiums and convention facilities.
The ban will go into affect next month.
There were some exceptions. If establishments can prove their buildings are equipped with air purifiers that reduce the smoke, some buildings may remain open to smokers.
Smoking rooms in hotels will be allowed as long as their numbers are not more than one-quarter of the total number of rooms at the property.
